Who reviews this content

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Facial aesthetic surgery · upper face · revision planning

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its aesthetic surgery service at Chongqing West District Hospital — the lead physician of this site's brow lift content. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

His facial practice covers rhinoplasty and nasal refinement, eyelid surgery, facial bone contouring of the cheekbone, jaw angle and chin, facelift and lifting procedures, and facial fat grafting. Brow position work sits at the meeting point of two of those: the eyelid and the lift. His consistent philosophy is to operate on the anatomy the patient actually has, change only what the analysis justifies, and keep the result natural enough that nobody asks who the surgeon was.

Clinical focus

  • Eyelid surgery and periorbital refinement
  • Forehead and brow-position surgery, including endoscopic approaches
  • Facelift, midface lift and facial rejuvenation
  • Rhinoplasty, including structural grafting with the patient's own cartilage
  • Facial fat grafting and volume restoration
  • Revision assessment and planning after previous facial surgery

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Rhinoplasty and Trunk Tumor Groups, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; Member, Chongqing Medical Accident / Disability Assessment Expert Pools
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Shapingba District Medical Aesthetics Committee
  • Published 5 SCI papers, holds 7 national patents, and has participated in 4 research projects
  • Repeatedly named an Outstanding Young Physician at Xinqiao Hospital since joining in 2005

Volume with restraint

More than 700 operations a year counts only alongside selection: every consultation is also a decision about whether surgery should happen at all. The operations a surgeon declines are part of the judgement you are hiring.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Complex and revision surgery

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience.

Within the aesthetic team he is the backstop for difficult cases, including correction of unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery performed elsewhere, and the judgement of when an aesthetic plan should not proceed. Patients who arrive after a brow lift they are unhappy with are usually assessed within this part of the service.

Clinical focus

  • Repair of unsatisfactory cosmetic operations, including revision and reconstruction
  • Complex wound repair and tertiary-hospital surgical support
  • Scar revision and comprehensive scar management
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Scar and aftercare · perioperative skin

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years.

Her role in this service is everything the operation itself does not do: optimising skin quality before surgery, and scar and pigment aftercare once the incisions have healed, so that the scar lines along the hairline have the best chance of maturing well.

Clinical focus

  • Early scar prevention and repair, including scar and pigment aftercare
  • Skin quality and barrier repair before and after surgery
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · perioperative skin health

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service. He graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Within the team his role is the skin itself: assessing before surgery the conditions that affect healing, and afterwards protecting scars and pigment from the problems that make a good operation look like a bad one.

Clinical focus

  • Preoperative skin assessment and postoperative scar and pigment care
  • Pigment conditions and inflammatory skin disease that affect healing
